Start Up about me

It all began with an idea, to turn a hobby into something more. I’ve always loved going to the gym or exercising. When I was younger we basically played out all the time, summer with never in doors (if you went in you were threatened with being made to stay in). Running was my initial thing, I was selected to run 800 meters for St Bedes school as well as in cross-country championship relay for school (which was in Princess Anne park in Washington).

I also played football and boxed when I was younger, Harraton boxing club, St Bedes and trials for Washington boys.

Once I hit 16-18 I kinda lost my way a bit with exercise, probably a curse of North East and the times as drink took over mine and virtually all mates lives (talking 1984-1988 for me). I still occasionally played football on a Sunday for pub team, but only if they were short drinking came first back then.

Then in my early 20s I got back into it, I joint Gateshead Victoria Boxing club and spent 3 nights a week boxing (running from Heworth to Gateshead Stadium each night) then going on night shift, I conquered my fear and had my one and only fight (won by 2nd round tko). I retired undefeated like Rocky Marciano and took up running again this time for Jarrow and Hebburn running club. I loved running and still do even though arthritis and cartliage wear have made me stop. I did 36 mins for 6 mile and 68 mins for 10 mile, times I could only dream off now.

I continued exercising in my 30s, 40s and 50s, but never though I had bottle or money to start up on my own. But here I am, at 55 I started training as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer and now at 56 I am certified in both by ORIGYM.

Late 2024 I intend to start classes at District Youth Boxing club and have kindly been given permission by Mick Wilson Head Coach. I’ll forever be indebted to Mick a couple of times he and Terry have done things which has massively influenced mine and and two of my sons lives.

Thanks for reading, thanks for using gym if you do and thank you for letting me help you if I can its massively appreciated.
